MotherCoders amplifies the skill sets of moms who have degrees by offering training that connects participants to a career path where they can leverage their past work experiences. For the New York City pilot, MotherCoders selected moms from a variety of professional backgrounds including publishing, advertising, project management, and marketing.
What do participants need to succeed? Mothercoders acknowledges an seeks to eliminate the barriers which might prevent moms from participating in intensive tech training by providing on-site childcare.
What does the organization need? More funding to bring down the cost of the program to participants. “Funding this program is not cheap, partly because have the childcare component,” said Lee.
